California Forum for Professional Development Recap

The California Forum for Professional Development in Palm Springs was another incredible experience. It was inspiring to watch attendees engage and reflect with colleagues about innovative, evidence-based and effective approaches to adult learning while connecting with diverse providers of professional development. Palm Springs was the perfect location to get away from our daily stressors. We started and ended the weekend with a powerful and entertaining keynote followed by a collaborative panel of leaders in early childhood education.

We learned new science about child development, pedagogy and adult learning. We practiced communication and coaching skills. We received updates about systems initiatives. And at night, we exchanged ideas and inspiration at two receptions. Our in-depth discussions led to some powerful insights and a call to action. California’s early childhood education system is constantly changing to keep pace with new knowledge and political realities. We need to strengthen our community by creating spaces for everyone to join a common conversation about the wisdom of our practice and to make sure our youngest children have a voice at larger conversations in our education system. CAEYC's Forum is designed to provide that opportunity.

We are already starting to plan for next year’s Forums. Please email me at romero.patrick@gmail.com if you want to get involved.
