News and Happenings Around CAEYC
Cary Larson-McKay |
Well, the NAEYC National Dialogue is coming to its action phase. As we wait for the important details, we at CAEYC are working to prepare additional information and support as each Affiliate has to determine its future. The CAEYC National Dialogue Committee has worked long and hard to help all of us understand what each of our Affiliates need to do to keep our member outreach moving forward. Look for additional information later in this eConnections.
Several Local Affiliates have given CAEYC officers and staff the opportunity to visit with them at Board Meetings or events. I want to thank those that have extended invitations to us. San Diego AEYC, Southern California AEYC, Peninsula AEYC, Sacramento Valley AEYC, Kern AEYC, Redwood Empire AEYC and Marin AEYC, we thank you.
We have good news coming from several of our committees. The Public Policy Committee did an outstanding job arranging the Early Learning Advocacy Day. If you missed it you really should plan to come next year. Read more about the Early Learning Advocacy Day success later in this eConnections. The CAEYC Public Policy team is going to Washington DC at the end of February and you can connect with them at the CAEYC Annual Conference.
The plans for the CAEYC Annual Conference are being handled by the Conference Committee and from the reports to date this will be a stand-out event. I personally look forward to seeing many of you there and please, stop to say hello to me. The highlight of my time at the Conference is always the people I meet and the great stories all of you tell me about your work.
Local Affiliates are having conferences, meet-ups, celebrations, events and sharing of resources. Be sure to send your event details to the CAEYC staff team – they will get posted to the interactive calendar on the CAEYC website. CAEYC Committees are hard at work, look for their updates in this eConnections. Oh, and if you see a committee or a project you might like to work on just let me know.
I want to thank our staff for their able and monumental work to make sure each CAEYC event is planned and organized to maximize member experience. So if you see Deidre, Michele or Brandie around the Conference give them a high five, they deserve it.
I welcome comments, questions, and suggestions from all CAEYC Members and Early Childhood Educators. Send me an email at cary_mckay@yahoo.com.
