Forum for Professional Development

In case you haven’t heard, the California Forum for Professional Development is not your typical conference. In partnership with the California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division (ELCD), we bring together diverse providers of professional learning for two days of learning and community building.

This year’s Friday morning opening session will break the ice and invest a full three hours to building cross sector learning teams. Then the afternoon will continue with a round of three-hour deep dive sessions. This year’s deep dive topics include Cultural Humility and Unconscious Bias, Using a Trauma Informed Lens, Reflective Practice, Online Education Best Practices, and Current Status of ECE in California.

Saturday morning will continue with an hour and half sessions on CLASS, Family Engagement, Continuous Quality Improvement, Brain Development, and Equity and Leadership. Then attendees will reconvene as one large group for updates on statewide projects from the California Department of Education Quality Improvement Office.

Finally, the day will conclude with a closing session that promises to tie the whole experience together and send us back to work inspired and rejuvenated. In addition, with breakfast and lunch included along with two evening receptions, there will be plenty of time to connect with colleagues informally.
