Working with Families in Difficult Situations Hosted by SCAEYC in Collaboration with Temple Isaiah

The concept of Parent-Professional Partnerships is foundational in all service systems. Parents are considered full members of any team and parent engagement is critical to successful planning and implementation of service and treatment plans. But sometimes it is just so hard… When relationships are strained, it is natural to assume that the parent is unreasonable, difficult or “one of those parents.” In this presentation, we re-frame this discussion from working with difficult parents, to working with parents in difficult situations. We will examine barriers to successful teaming and develop strategies to address these barriers. This approach, grounded in interest-based negotiation, is a different approach to thinking about and working with parents.

Join SCAEYC and Temple Isaiah on Monday, September 26 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. For more information, download the flyer.
