Drive-Through Member Thank You Event Feld February 13

The Kern Chapter of the California Association for the Education of Young Children is known for its numerous workshops to provide professional development opportunities to the Kern County child development community. The last workshop was held in February 2020, right before the world known as COVID changed everyone’s lives.

Kern’s board of directors was feeling a lack of connection with their fellow CAAEYC members, and was just downright missing all of them. The board voted during fall 2020 to put together a goodie bag, with help from organizations including Lakeshore, Kaplan and CAAEYC. The next task was how to get them out to members.

As many other activities have gone during the past year, the Kern board, led by President Leticia Cabrera Mendoza and Vice President of Membership Lydia Pires, put together a drive-through distribution in southwest Bakersfield during the afternoon of Saturday, February 13. Board members created signs, such as Even From Six Feet Apart, You Teach with All Your Heart, and You Make Us Pop with Appreciation, to thank their fellow Kern CAAEYC members for their importance to the education of the youngest children.

Those picking up their thank you bags really appreciated the items in their bags, and the effort that Kern’s board put forward to show how much they are missed.
