Preschool Teacher

Position Description:

We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare young children for kindergarten by teaching a developmentally appropriate curriculum and creative play, while fostering a classroom of courtesy and joy. Our program allows for significant one-on-one interactions and looks at each child as an individual. As a faculty, we value a “can do” attitude and with expectations of collaboration and communication.

 

Responsibilities:

• Teach a carefully crafted, creative program that is suitable for preschool children

• Observe each child to help them improve and develop social competencies and build self esteem

• Encourage collaboration and interaction among classmates and facilitate conversations when occasional disagreements occur

• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum, using a variety of educational techniques

• Organize snack and play time and provide supervision at all times to ensure children are safe

• Track each child’s progress and communicate with parents frequently

• Work collaboratively with colleagues

• Maintain a classroom that is clean and visually appealing

• Prioritize and participate in professional development opportunities

 

Requirements:

• Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units

• Bachelor Degree in relevant field preferred

• Preschool or kindergarten teaching experience preferred

• Excellent understanding of the principles of childhood development and preschool educational methods

• Excellent communication and instructional skills

• Ability to act as mediator between students, employing conflict resolution techniques 

• A passion for children and a love of learning

• Must have or obtain childhood CPR/First Aid training
